Come to Mcely and celebrate the extraordinary 200th anniversary of the birth
of Bedřich Smetana, a musical giant with international reach.

At the end of his life, Bedřich Smetana stayed with his daughter in a hunting lodge in neighboring Jabkenice. He was also in close contact with the aristocratic Thurn-Taxis family at the chateaus in Mcely and Loučeň.


Weekend Program

Enjoy a special weekend menu prepared by chef Honza Štěrba, inspired by the work of Bedřich Smetana. 

Tiger prawn cream

Bedřich Smetana Museum in Jabkenice, 6 km
Bedřich Smetana spent the last years of his life in the hunting lodge and wrote many of his most important works here. If you are interested in a tour on Saturday, March 2, from 3 PM, please contact us no later than February 25, 2024, to make the arrangements for you. The museum is normally closed at this time. CZK 100 per person, only in Czech.

Loučeň Chateau, 5 km
Bedřich Smetana often gave concerts for the Thurn-Taxis family at Loučeň Chateau. You can also see the piano he used to play. 
During March, special tours are held at the castle on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bedřich Smetana.
